Fun with Nick and Katie

The Oliver’s were in town for a family reunion and we had the opportunity to spend parts of Sunday and Monday getting reaquanted with the new additions to both of our families. We did the math and it had been four years since we had seen each other. Jami and I dropped in on them when they were living in LA over the fourth of July in 2003. Katie was very pregnant with Carson and Abbi had just turned one. Fast forward four years and the Olivers have added cute little Spencer and the Gunn’s are a party of five. Needless to say we had a lot of catching up to do.
The Oliver’s decided to join us for church on Sunday which was a lot of fun to say the least. The kids were pretty good through most of Sacrament meeting. Katie brought lots of fun toys and stickers to entertain all the kids. For me, attending sacrament meeting while on vacation especially with kids is hard enough but the Oliver’s decided to brave the second hour.
Bad idea. Caleb freaked out and didn’t want to go to Nursery. Adam got so flustered with Caleb he forgot to take Logan. So I got frustrated with him, because I was trying to do my Primary calling which is really hard with a crying baby. Eventually, Adam ended up with two crying kids in Sunday School, and Oliver’s ended up with their two year old, Spencer who didn’t want to go to nursery either. Since Adam is in the Young Mens I get Logan for the Third hour. Are you ready for more fun? I decided I’d try and go to Relief Society with Katie. She had Logan and I had Caleb who was still not doing well. I accidenty hit his head on the chair in front of me. He flipped out. Katie and I decided to go sit on the couch in the foyer and try not to cause anymore disruption. Nick ended up out in the hall with us. We had a nice visit for the rest of church. They came back to our house for lunch. We visited a little more and then they headed back to their hotel for a little nap.
Monday, we took the jet ski’s up to Pine View. That didn’t go smoothly either. Craig got home late, so we were up at teh lake with Nick and Katie for an hour and a half before the jet ski’s showe up. We played in the water and visited. Then we played, and rode some more until it was dark. It was a nice relaxing evening.
Even though nothing seemed to go as planed we had a nice visit. We all decided we need to get together more often. Not every four years. So, I guess that means it’s our turn to go to Washington. Fine with me!!! I’d love to live there some day. (Hint Hint Adam!)
