HAPPY EASTER II

Another Easter weekend has come and gone. We had a very nice weekend as a family. On Friday, Jami and I had a date night without children – Something we had not done for who knows how long. We ended up at the Gateway and had a nice dinner at Thaifoon. Their Calamari appetizer was the highlight for me although their lo mein noodles were a pleasant surprinse.

Saturday morning was the ward party. They planned a nice breakfast in the park with scones and honeybutter. We then played games in the park. The highlights were the egg toss – Abbi threw the egg and cracked it right on Caleb’s head. The elder’s quroum sack race – I ended up finishing third. I tried to take out the two guys ahead of me but couln’t quite get to them. The egg hunt was probably the highlight for the children – it was quite a good hunt for a ward function. They had lots of things for the kids to find and somehow had a nice stash of prizes which the kids would get when they redeemed a numbered egg. Finally, we had a great time shooting rubber chickens at a giant bunny from the slingshot that the priests quorum had built. It was fun!

I played golf Friday afternoon with my dad and Erik. We then spent the evening dying eggs at my parents. After the kids went to bed I watched the movie Stranger than Fiction which I thouroughly enjoyed. It was thought provoking and unique. Will Ferrell movies are kind of hit and miss for me but this one was one of his best.

Sunday morning was hectic with the early church. The kids got up and spent a few minutes looking for and finding their easter baskets. Church was nice. Jami bore a nice testimony about how wonderful conference was for her. After church we just relaxed and enjoyed being together. I watched Happy Feet with the kids which was better than I was anticipating. I then watched (and the rest of the family endured) the final few holes of the masters.

We then went over to my parents for another easter egg hunt with the Oaks side of the family. Erik had done a great job hiding candy and toys all over the yard and the kids spent a long time hunting and gathering. We enjoyed an easter ham and one anothers company. It was a nice day.
