Conference Weekend

There are a lot of reasons I love General Conference Weekend.

1) Conference is a sign that spring is on its way. You can look at the images shown of Temple Square and the beautiful flower gardens and realize that soon, with a little effort, your yard should start to look the same. It means that the days will be getting longer. That the golf courses are getting greener and warmer weather will soon be a reality.

2) Church on TV. Who doesn’t love staying in their pajamas all day!

3) Priesthood Session with Dad. I enjoy the oportunity to sit with my dad and my brothers and hear the council of church leaders specific to my role as a Priesthood holder. I enjoy plotting the quickest route from our seats to the car to see how quickly we can get out of the parking lot. And I enjoy the opportunity to go somewhere afterward and enjoy dinner or dessert.

4) Sunday Morning Conference Crepes. We have started a new tradition the past few years where my dad makes his delicious crepes, (which in the past were reserved only for Christmas morning), prior to the Sunday morning session. There is nothing better than a strawberrry filled crepe with homemade whipping cream! We then enjoy the morning session together – in our pajamas of course!

5) Divine Council. It never fails that whatever my staight of mind or personal situation, I always feel that the messages of counference were hand picked and prepared just for me. How lucky we are to have prophets of god who have the keys of revelation. It is a testimony to me of the love of our Heavenly Father for us as his children and reminds me where I need to improve.

6) No Sunday Responsibilities. I have often thought of conference weekend as a bit of a break from the stress that is often associated with a typical Sunday morning. No getting up early for meetings, no stressing about getting three young kids ready for nine o’clock church. No lessons to prepare or talks to write.

  1. Hey Adam and Jami! Found your site via Anissa’s blog.

Agreed that conference weekends are the BEST! Glad you had a good one!

  2. I’ve had such a good time reading through your blog! You have a beautiful family! I really hope that we get to visit you guys or you can come up here sometime in the next year or two. Our kids are going to be so big by the time we get together… it’s really amazing how fast they grow up isn’t it?
