Gunn Family Olympics – Day 7

Event: Saturday Morning Survival

As a family we do a pretty good job of making the most of our Saturday’s Together. As a family we had a lot of options this Saturday, Jami’s family was going to go to the cabin and some of my family had talked about driving up to Bear Lake for the day. We decided to make our own fun and ride the new Frontrunner commuter train from Layton to Salt Lake and walk to the Salt Lake Farmers Market. As has been the case with the beautiful Olympic venues in Bejiing such as the Bird’s Nest and “The Cube” – The cultural experience stole the show today. Our Gold Medal Memories from the experience will be:

– Slowing down at the Woods Cross Station and seeing Ben & Jenny had decided to join us.
– Enjoying Bruges Waffles for a second time. Delicious!
– KettleCorn
– Scoping out all the fresh vegetables and buying delicious Utah grown cantaloupe, corn, peppers and beans.
– Getting balloon swords, ladybugs and some outrageous hat from one of the street vendors
– And the fun of riding the train as a family. Sometimes it’s nice not to have to worry about, traffic and parking. The family pass on Frontrunner is only $14.50 which, when you consider you are going to pay $3-5 to park downtown plus gas it is a pretty fair price.

After the event, one of our competitors, Abbilynn came down with some sort of flu bug and slept most of the day. The other competitors enjoyed a relaxing afternoon of golf and movie going.
