Dog Days of Winter

Winter has finally arrived here along the wasatch front. We have had a pretty mild winter compared to the previous few years which has its pros and cons. Interestingly enough we’ve had two pretty good storms in the past week and another two “big” storms on the way. Hopefully I will be able to go skiing a couple more times now that the conditions have improved dramatically. My first trip skiing this year was a rather miserable experience. The conditions were terrible and it was about the coldest and windiest day of skiing I remember.

As far was the goings on in the family – I have been pretty consumed with work. Every february one of my larger clients holds a pretty signifigant conference and they create a lot of product specific for the conference. I have spent a lot of time getting things ready and have had a few last minute hassles that have been incredibly time consuming and stressful. As part of the conference I have to give a marketing overview to the dealers and announce a few of the new initatives to the whole conference. It is a pretty stressful hour but I got up there – did my thing – and it seemed to go okay. This year we emphasized creating turnkey trade show products for the dealers and we had a pretty signifigant set-up in the foyer of the conference center (see photos)

Abbi is enjoying preschool and continues to impress me with her sense of humor and ability to be a good older sister and helper for Jami. She is getting ready for kindergarten and looking forward to that in the fall. On Saturday we took her piggybank to the bank and cashed in all the pennies she has been collecting from her grandmas. she ended up having about nine dollars in coins so we put five in her savings and had her keep a dollar for tithing and she had about three dollars to spend. She was pretty excited to have “cash” so we went to Wal-Mart and let her buy something. She picked a make-up kit which she enjoyed playing with all afternoon.

Caleb is growing fast and talking better each day. He is starting to put together some pretty good sentences. I was surprised when he broke out the word dinosaur this evening when we were reading his bedtime story. He still likes his binky at bedtime and we hope he will start liking nursery sometime soon but I enjoy his sweet smile and his random dancing.

Logan is a two month old. He is still getting up a couple times a night and has a little temper which can be trying. He is a pretty social guy and likes to be held and entertained. Each day he seems to be a little more alert and when he breaks out his little smile it mends all fences.
