Happy Thanksgiving

I can’t believe that I actually found a few quiet minutes to write a blog on Thanksgiving day. It has actually been a pretty quiet day for our family which has been really nice. I took yesterday off work. The thought of a five-day weekend was really exciting to me so I took an extra day. We went to IKEA and bought a dresser we have been eying since IKEA opened. We also hit up the Old Dutch Store in Sugarhouse and got a few favorite snacks from my mission. We ended the day on the road with a late lunch/dinner at Applebees. Abbi had received a free kids meal coupon for having no tardies at school and I had a gift certificate from work for winning best costume so the mean was basically free. We came home and were worn out. About nine o’clock we started putting our new dresser together. Putting together IKEA furniture as a couple is a good test of marital vows. We had a couple heated exchanges as the hours passed on but amazingly by about midnight we had the thing built and I think we still love each other – right honey?

Thanksgiving Day we slept in a bit then started moving our new dresser into place. This process involved moving dressers in every room since our dresser became Caleb and Logan’s and theirs became Abbi’s. It was a lot of work but for the first time ever, Jami and I actually have the semblance of a coordinated bedroom set. I went for a run. The weather has turned cold but it has been a really dry November. I had been running at least three times a week but with the change in time and the cold weather I have not been running near enough so it was nice to get out for a bit of a longer jog. About two o’clock we headed over to Pam’s for Dinner. She always prepares a good Thanksgiving spread. We joke that I wasn’t sure I wanted to marry Jami until I tried Pam’s green bean caserole. That was the clincher. We laid around in a Triptophen induced stupor for several hours watching football and playing cards before deciding it was time to visit my family. Things had settled down at my parent’s house by the time we got there. They had a large crowd for dinner but everyone had pretty much left by the time we arrived. Jami jumped into a game of cards and I took a seat on the couch for the USC vs Arizona State football game. That’s where I am right now. Don’t know what will happen next. It is only eight o’clock but it feels like eleven – maybe I need seconds. gotta Go!
