Halloween Party

Last night was Sarah’s Halloween Party. This is the first year ever that we as a family have all dressed up at the same time. We spent most of the day Saturday finding last minute details for everyone’s costume and cookin the Lil’ smokies in the crock pot. Sarah and Matt had done a fine job decorating my parent’s House. My Grandma Margaret gets the award for spookiest costume. She was some sort of witch but was wearing a black ski mask over her face and sitting in the corner. It did not even look like her. Everyone’s costumes were great. Sarah and Matt were Harry Potter and Ginny. Ben wore his inflatable cowboy costume from last year and jenny was a devil. Boston had a cute skunk costume. Syd and Troy made a grand entrance as Pharoh and Cleopatra. Amy’s costume was most oiginal. She arrived as a washed up Britney Spears. Complete with an empty stroller and crossed out K-Fed tatoo. It was hilarious. After eating a dilicious pot-luck spread we settled into a a few games. We did a fun mummy wrap up game with the kids then played a huge group name game where you have to memorize everyones made up Halloween name and then try to fiqure out who is who. After the game we awarded prizes for costumes. The winners were as follows:

Kids: Boston Gunn’s Skunk Costume
Women: Amy’s Brittany Spears costume and Megan’s vampire costume
Men: Troy Howards’s Pharoh costume and Adam Gunn’s Bob Ross

We ended the evening monitoring the World Series and playing Karaokee Revolution on the PS2. Special thanks to Sarah, Matt and my parents for all the hard work they put into the evening!

Picture Notes
1. Notice how well Caleb’s chicken costume fits or rather doesn’t fit. We bought it last year and hoped he could wear it again this year. Logan is wearing an M&M costume my mom and I made for Abbi when she was a baby. It is the perfect hand-me-down costume. Abbi is in a store bought Tinker Bell outfit that we really thought was cute. It was also a deperate compromise to get her mind off being Sharpay from High School Musical.
2. Jami and I with our black hair get-up. We both liked the black hair – who knows, maybe we will die it for real some day.
3. Caleb after winning the Mummy Wrap contest
4. A nice shot of Jami’s costume – She get’s the award for most money spent this year. My favorite part is the fish net stockings…
5. Sarah the host as Ginny Weasley
6. Matt as Harry Potter. He was supposed to be Dumboldore and She was ging to be Harry, until a few days ago when JK Rowling announced that Dumboldore was gay which really troubled Sarah. So much so, that she decided to give Harry over to Matt and threw together another quick Hogwarts get-up so she could be Ginny. Way to improvise!

  1. DANG! Your families really go all out! I’m super impressed. I’d have to say that my favorite costumes are the HP ones, simply because I’m a huge fan and anything HP is the best.
Sounds like a great time. Happy Halloween!

  2. Playing a little blog catch-up, I see. Good work.

  3. Abbi makes the perfect Tinker Bell! You all look awesome, but I had to laugh at your Bob Ross costume. I am loving that idea!
